● Starting the New Year in the middle of their “THE UNWAVERING FACT OF TOMORROW TOUR2010-2011”, DIR EN GREY released their single 『LOTUS』, about 14 months after the release of the previous 『Hageshisa To, Kono Mune No Naka De Karamitsuita Shakunetsu No Yami』.
Soon after the release, they went back to the recording studio until May, when they began their Official Fanclub「a knot」exclusive “TOUR2011 THE DECOMPOSITION OF THE MOON” for 8 shows in Osaka, Tokyo, Nagoya, and Kyoto venues, during which they performed their new and unreleased song 『DIFFERENT SENSE』. The song was released on June 22nd as a single, following 『LOTUS』.

● The 8th original album the band has been working on for a long time was finally ready. This work that came out after two years and 9 months since 『UROBOROS』 under the title of 『DUM SPIRO SPERO』 was released in Japan on August 3rd, soon followed by other 20 countries all around the world.

● Right after the album was released, they performed at “Wacken Open Air” in Germany, the biggest heavy metal open-air festival in the world, for the first time in 4 years. They then toured 9 countries including Netherlands, France and England with their “TOUR2011 PARADOX OF RETALIATION”, ending in Moscow on August 25th.

● They held a show called “Ratio ducat, non fortuna-Zombie-” on September 13th at CLUB CITTA’ Kawasaki. Since no details were announced, this free invitation-only show was subject of much speculation: it turned out to be a special live show with the members wearing the same special make-up they wore for the music video of 『DIFFERENT SENSE』.

● Their first domestic tour after releasing their album 『DUM SPIRO SPERO』 began on September 15th under the title “TOUR2011 AGE QUOD AGIS”. For this tour, they performed 28 shows, including a 2-days live held at SHINKIBA STUDIO COAST on November 7th and 8th.
Right after this tour, they also performed at TOKYO DOME CITY HALL on November 11th, where the music was symphonically arranged from beginning to end giving the audience a new and unforgettable stage experience.

● An American continental tour started as part of the series “TOUR2011 AGE QUOD AGIS” on November 23rd in Santiago (Chile). The tour moved up from South to Central, then to North America for a whole month, with the band performing 18 shows in 7 countries, and it was closed with the last show of the year, held in West Hollywood on December 23rd.
