● In January, DIR EN GREY appeared on the cover of the British KERRANG!, the world’s biggest-selling weekly rock magazine.
In the same period, they also joined the tour organized by the magazine under the title “KERRANG! RELENTLESS ENERGY DRINK TOUR 2009” along with such bands as BRING ME THE HORIZON, performing all over UK and Ireland.
● In February, they started a domestic tour titled “TOUR09 Feast of V senses” begins in Japan. This hectic tour started with a road tour of live houses all around the country, including a “fan club exclusive show” and a “male only show”, and ended focusing on large all-standing venues in it’s second half. Just with this tour, the band already performed 38 shows.
● Also in February, they released the DVD “A KNOT OF”, featuring highlights of their past shows during all these years. Later, in April, they released the DVD “TOUR08 THE ROSE TRIMS AGAIN”, with the complete footage of the show they performed in October at SHINKIBA STUDIO COAST.
● In June they traveled again overseas for their European Tour, interspersed with their 3rd performance at “ROCK AM RING” and “ROCK IM PARK”, and the first one at the UK’s “Download Festival”, sharing the stage with several big bands such as MOTLEY CRUE, KORN, and NINE INCH NAILS. Among their headline shows, they also performed with KILLSWITCH ENGAGE in Paris, making 14 performances before to go back to Japan.
● From the end of August to the middle of September, the domestic “TOUR09 ALL VISIBLE THINGS” took place in some major cities of Japan, for a total of 10 shows.
● Responding to the strong request coming both from Japan and overseas, they released a music video compilation DVD. Entitled 『AVERAGE BLASPHEMY』, it was released on October 28th.
● In November they had a US tour focusing on some major cities of the country, and also made their first performance in South America.
● Their newest single 『Hageshisa to, Kono Mune no Naka de Karamitsuita Syakunetsu no Yami』 was released on December 2nd, 15 months after their previous one. It ranked 2nd in the Oricon Chart, their highest position at this time.
